Product Description
THE No.06 STAINLESS STEEL POCKET KNIFE
The No.06 Stainless Steel pocket knife is the smallest model that features the Virobloc safety ring. This little knife is non threatening and very durable.
The blade has been designed and perfected over generations to maximize the cutting quality and ensure it’s easy to sharpen after years of hard work. Use it in the garden, at the dinner table, or even on your next adventure. Keep the knife in your pocket, purse or toolbox and we are certain you’ll love it for years to come!
THE RIGHT FEATURES AT THE RIGHT COST
Opinel uses Sandvik(R) 12C27 Modified stainless steel. The Swedish steel is well known for its anti-corrosive properties which requires minimal upkeep. Its carbon content of at least 0.40% provides an excellent cutting edge which is also easy to keep sharp.
The patented VIROBLOC locking mechanism keeps your knife safely closed in your pocket and locks the blade open during use. The simplicity of the knife’s design and it’s sustainable wooden handle makes the knife lightweight too!
THE PERFECT SIZE FOR EVERYDAY CARRY
Both smart and simple, the Opinel folding knife is composed of 5 elements: the blade, the wooden handle, the fixed ferrule, the rivet and the rotating VIROBLOC locking ring which was added in 1955 to sizes No.06 and above.
The knife is equipped with a 2.87 inch blade, open length 6.5 inches.
CARING FOR YOUR KNIFE
All Opinel wooden-handle knives are not designed to be washed in the dishwasher. Heat and moisture will cause any wood to swell which will make the knife hard to open at times. Opinel suggests carefully hand-washing your knives and leaving them out to air dry. The Sandvik 12C27 Mod. Stainless Steel used for the blades is low maintenance, meaning it is highly resistant to rust and can be polished or cared for with simple organic oils.
MADE IN THE FRENCH ALPS FOR OVER 130 YEARS
Joseph Opinel designed his first pocket knife in 1890, creating a tool that is as robust and functional as it is simple and beautiful. From his workshop at the foot of the French Alps, Opinel forged a cult classic. Generations of artists, explorers, and farmers have carried the instantly recognizable, imminently useful Opinel knife in their pockets.
Little has changed since 1890. Rooted in history and a commitment to craftsmanship, the Opinel family still makes their knives in the Savoie region of France. Each year, THEIR team of 150 employees in France manufactures over 5 million knives, ranging from outdoor tools to kitchen knives, all to honor Joseph Opinel’s focus on quality and simplicity.

SENSIBLE LUXURY: From France, this Oak wood is hard and very resistant to wear due it’s high tannin content. It has a yellow-brown appearance, with regular grains and veining throughout
INOX BLADE: We use Sandvik 12C27 modified stainless steel. It is anti-corrosive thanks to the addition of chrome and requires no special maintenance. Carbon content of at least 0.40% provides an excellent cutting edge and is easily sharpened.
THE CROWNED HAND: In 1565 King Charles IX commanded every knife maker to stamp an emblem on their products to guarantee their origin and quality. In 1909 in order to honor this tradition Joseph Opinel chose the Crowned Hand as his emblem
PATENTED VIROBLOC: A hallmark of Opinel everyday carry knives since it’s invention in 1955, the Virobloc ring offers a unique, thoughtful, and easy to use safety mechanism for locking the blade during use, during transport, and during storage
FRENCH HERITAGE: For over 130 years Opinel has been crafting knives and tools in the heart of the French Alps. Much like Joseph Opinel did from his workshop in 1890, today we still manufacture Opinel products from our factory in Chambery, France.
